I have installed 4.8 and 5.0 on other systems using these sane cd's. For some reason on this system I can not get it to install.
specs are:
1.4 amd k7s5a MB
512 sdram
basic cirrus logic video card
atapi cdrom
2.4 gb seagate hd

I can install redhat 8.0 with out a problem so I do not know why DSL is crapping out. I have tried "Knoppix toram" as well and I get the same issue.

any ideas?

Thank you.

Do you mean booting form the CD?  Or booting from computer after a HD install?

I am trying to boot from the cd and I have not done a hdinstall yet.

updated: I downloaded and burned 0.5.1 and it gives the same problem. I tried to boot the same cd on a different system and it works fine so there is something about this system it does not like. I just can't seem to figire it out.

also I do not have any scsi devices or cards installed in this system

ok...well after some trouble shooting I fixed the issue. i had the video card in a PCI slot that was AFTER the PCI bridge...i.e. I had it in the last of 5 PCI slots. I moved it to the first PCI slot and the system booted the 0.5.1 image with out a problem.
