making boot partition RWForum: HD Install Topic: making boot partition RW started by: _pathos Posted by _pathos on Dec. 19 2005,11:00
I've got a poormans install (knoppix folder on a win2k FAT32 partition)DSL mounts hda1 onto /cdrom with RO access, is it possible to change it to RW access? Will I have to modify the boot floppy kernel? Posted by cbagger01 on Dec. 19 2005,17:09
Boot with this command:dsl frugal Posted by _pathos on Dec. 20 2005,09:04
awesome . If I just copy the contents of the floppy boot disk onto a ext2/fat32 partition and aim lilo at the linux24 folder will it work? I really can't be bothered doing the full frugal install, poormans is much simpler and causes a lot less mess. (Oh can I also choose the mydsl folder? not just a partition) Posted by cbagger01 on Dec. 21 2005,03:45
It should work.Essentially, a frugal install is just poormans + a bootloader If you do this, make sure that you add the appropriate commands to your lilo "append" statement. The standard append terms appear under the DEFAULT append line inside the SYSLINUX.CFG or ISOLINUX.CFG text file (depending on your version of dsl) |
