I love DSL (it has been a while since I tried it before) and the latest version is perfect! So naturally I wanted to do a hd install, especially since all of my hardware works. When I try, I get a permissions denied message when I tell it what partition to install to. What do I do now? Should I blow out my Linux partition with Knoppix or what?

Any help will be appreciated.

Perhaps you could tell us what the error message is? And at what point it occurs..... what precedes it and so on.

I mean the specific message- maybe you could paste it if it isn't long.
I assume you are doing this as root and not trying it as "user."..

You might choose the wrong partition
make sure that you are root when you wanna run dsl-hdinstall
Code Sample
sudo su

How do you get root in DSL? What's the password?

Thanks.  :)

The root password is not available.
If you want to execute a command as root: sudo [comand]
if you want to stay root as long as the terminal is open: sudo su
if you want to be able to login as root: sudo passwd, then type a new password for root.

THanks! Shows you how dumb I am, it didn't even occur to me that you could root in DSL, since you can't with Knoppix or Morphix (as far as I know).
