Excellent little distro - both for rescue/bbc purposes and for hdd installation.

There seems to be a small problem with changing the keyboard though. You Americans put keys in very odd locations, and you don't even have a £ sign!!

I tried "loadkeys uk" as root and it seemed to work, saying it had loaded "/usr . . . uk.kmap.gz". But in fact the kaybord is still US. I have checked and the file does indeed exist, and at the location indicated, but for some reason it has had no effect. Any ideas?

You may have to kill X (crtl+alt+backspace), issue the command and then restart X (startx). If you have a HD install, you could put the command in one of the start up files.

You might try pressing F2 at the first boot prompt, then select your keyboard as directed there.

Theres a few methods flying about this board. The one which seems to work for version 0.6.x is to find the default keymap back it up and then rename the one you want to the original default name, therefore you get your desired keymap every time on boot. Thats all I know, hope it helps. If in doubt search the message board.
