Grub-Splash?!Forum: HD Install Topic: Grub-Splash?! started by: rszimski Posted by rszimski on Jan. 02 2006,13:28
Ahoi!Simple question: I would like to install a grub-splash. I did, but I failed. That's what I've done: copy an xmp.gz file to /boot/grub. Then I've added a comment to the grub/menu.lst: right after the timeout line splashimage=(hd0,5)/boot/grub/filename.xmp.gz Is this possible in DSL? Typical linux newbie question... Any hints and tips? rsz Posted by newOldUser on Jan. 04 2006,00:31
I was hoping someone else would respond.... I will not be much help to you, but I would like to know if you ever get this working....I was doing some reading at < GRUB Splash Image Howto >. It looks like it may depend a lot on what version of GRUB DSL is using. I don't know off the top of my head. You may want to search the forums to see if anything is mentioned. Keep trying... post what you discover Good luck Posted by mikshaw on Jan. 04 2006,03:45
I think it also requires the "splash" application, but not sure. The knoppix-autoconfig boot script makes mention of it, anyway. Since it's run during boot, you may need to remaster KNOPPIX to include it.

Thx! Needle in the haystack for a linux newbie. But I 'll give it a try and post the results of my efforts. Have a good time rsz Posted by Greengrass on Jan. 06 2007,10:45
Where does the TUX splash logo live when you do a hard disk install? (I know where logo.16 is on the cd-rom/live boot but it doesn't apper to be there in a hard disk install!)

I think everyone's talking about something different here...So here's what I interpret: rszimski - if the included grub supports splash, then you're set to go mikshaw - I think he meant a splash image just for the grub menu, not during the dsl boot process greengrass - that image is only used for the livecd, which is invoked by isolinux/syslinux. |
