I want to install DSL in a 486 laptop without CD-Rom.
I've copyed the knoppix file into the HD using a interlink/laplink cable, but when I try to boot with a booting floppy and type dsl fromhd=/dev/hda1 the O.S. doesn't start.

xericii -

I'm guessing your 486 doesn't support USB: if it did, you could use a USB pen drive.

If you've got a floppy drive & a network card, you could try
a network install as detailed < here in the Wiki (item #16) > . The big if there will be if your laptop network card is recognized.

My two cents worth,

Mark

It should also be possible to boot with loadlin from dos. I don't know exactly how to use it - search the forum. Also, I think the knoppix file has to be in the c:\knoppix directory (I may be wrong though).
