Ok I have tried to install from inside DSL, follow the instructions then afterward I boot to windows and lilo doesn't show up.  I have done it off the cd before DSL boots also, still the same thing.  My windows partition is on /dev/hda1 and my ext2 partition is /dev/hda5.  I just want DSL on the 20 gig hda5 partition and be able to boot to windows or DSL.  I have read on the forums and even searched, but I really don't see what I need.  Please give some help.  Thanks.

I have used Lilo in the past, but I'm currently using Grub. The key seems to be when you get to the last part of the install where it asked "do you have Windows installed on another partition?" you answer "yes" and it puts Grub or Lilo, depending on the install script you are using, on the MBR. That way you will get the lilo, or grub menu first when you boot up.

So I should just use Grub and it works?  Hmm.  It doesn't matter to me which one I use.

Grub works for me, but as I said, so did lilo. I like Grub a little better though because it is more universal to operating systems. The menu.lst file which is the script that runs grub is a little easier to edit as well.

I will try it again, but when I did lilo it acted like it did its thing but just booted to XP.  I have used lilo and grub in other distros, they install fine.

Well sorry to double post, but I got it to work. I used Grub and it worked.  Edited Grub, then can boot to Windows.  Now I need to understand how to mount my pen drive without having to have it plugged in on boot, and to unmount and eject a cd.  So far so good.  Aslo having MyDSL problems.

EDIT:  Ok, I can download from MyDSL with the DSL login.  Don't like that, but ok.  I downloaded the nvidia.dsl file and tried to install it, but when I try to install it I get an error about xdesktop or something.  I didn't write it down.  Now I am going to searc this, but I can get my icons to stay put (using root, always ran it like that) but the wallpaper will change, the drives won't auto mount and my volume is turned back to 50.  I saw somewhere how to fix this.  The drives, I will work on that now.  Getting closer, just wish I could get the nvidia to work.  Might try to install from the download from Nvidia.com.
