I got a never before used 3GB hard drive and I figured I might as well use DSL since it's the smallest distro of linux i know of, but I can't install it to the hard drive. CFDISK in the BASH won't work. It says "Error: Can not open disk drive"? There's a 512MB DOS Partition.

Any help?

Are you running it as root, ie:

sudo su
cfdisk /dev/hdb

Is the BIOS seeing the drive?  You may want to look at this, sounds like you just installed it.  You may have better luck with a separate disk utility.  I use < AEFDisk >, but there a lots of good ones out there.

I have founded a way to go around this SiS problem. All what you need to do is to use one cheat code at startup and it is

dsl dma

That will do something to something i dont know, but it works, but ONLY WITH FRUGAL install, "normal" hd install dont work for some reason,  and dont care about those error messages after that fstab thing.

Remember to add that cheat to your menu.lst after installing it.

Another way to use SIS stuff with damn small linux hd install is to use damn small linux ver. 0.5 .3.1 (based on  knoppix 2.2 or earlier) Newer versions of Knoppix just dont work with sis for some wierd reason. Dsl 0.6 and newer versions dont work with sis because those are based on knoppix ver 2.3 or never.

Is there going to be support for SIS in upcoming Damn smalls?

Only if it is supported in the linux 2.6.x kernel tree, I would guess.
