At first, i wanted to only use DSL, but then i noticed that it didnt like my modem, so i needed a way to have both XP and DSL on the same computer. I decided to share it with you all!

1.Open Xterminal
2. type sudo cfdisk
3. Delete whatever partition(s) you have.
4. Make a NTFS partition as hda1
5. Make a Linux partition as hda2
6. Write the partition table to disk
7. Proceed to HD install DSL
8. Make sure to install to hda2
9. When it asks you to choose a boot loader, choose Lilo
10. Finish the installation
11. Reboot
12. Choose "Linux" on the bootscreen
13. Answer whatever it tells you to do
14. Reboot
15. Boot from your Win XP installation disk
16. Make sure you install it to the NTFS partition

And thats it!

Why did you delete your XP installation in the 1st place?!?!

No offence...bad idea!

You have the "principle" of it down...but there is no need to completely wipe your HD!!!!!!!!

you're right, thats what i thought at first, but windows, puts its own little label on the partition that gets erased if you change the partitions, so thats why i had to re-install XP

As AwPhuch was getting at, there's a better way. You leave XP alone and use Qparted to shrink the XP partition, then use cfdisk to creat new Linux partition(s), then use a frugal grub install to format, install DSL, and write the grub bootloader to the Master Boot Record. Grub will boot XP just fine. There are dual boot install instructions all over the internet. I know some of them are outdated, so it can be confusing, but making a dual boot computer has gotten very easy these days.
