I'm trying to install DSl on an old 486. Since graphics run too slow, I would like to know how to make an hdinstall from the command line.

At the very first boot prompt type: installboot: install You will get an installation menu, no X, minimum resources used. Posted by desnotes on Feb. 27 2006,23:33
I am trying to do a frugal install from the command line. After I type in 'install' at the boot prompt, I get the following displays:loading linux24........ loading minirt24.gz............. Ready. Then everything stops. I waited several minutes but no change. Am I missing something? Thanks, desNotes Posted by roberts on Feb. 28 2006,05:43
You might possibly need to add other boot options just as you would from booting into X. You can get the same install menu within the X environment by opening a root shell and typing dslinstall |
