DSL installed on hdb2 and now?Forum: HD Install Topic: DSL installed on hdb2 and now? started by: oeht Posted by oeht on Mar. 31 2006,10:13
Hello at first I want to say that I'm a newbee at linux and I'm Dutch (so my English could be better).I've got a (small?) problem, I've installed DSL (debianlike) on de slave hd, (the master contains win98). Created 2 partitions hdb1 for the swapfile and hdb2 for linux, so far so good but how can I start it? "sudo -u root mkliloboot" doesn't work and with grub I've got a message with 'windows on master' (or something like that) but nothing works.. Someone an idea? I was thinking, is it possible to run this with a bootfloppy? In that case what do I need, and what do I have to edit. Posted by Guest on Mar. 31 2006,12:24
If you place your windows hd as (slave) hdb and dsl hd as hda (master), then it should work without any problems.

Thank you guys, the switch between master and slave solve my problem.Linux is booting from the menu, and I'm writing this message with that machine. So if you're in the neighbourhood of Stadskanaal, the Netherlands you know where you can get a beer ;-) |
