I did a frugal install of DSL, now it asks for 2 passwords every time a i boot.  It doesn't matter what I put in there, or if I leave it blank, it always boots.  I usually just hit enter to go right through it.  It's not a huge problem, but I would prefer it boot  right up and not bother me with this.

Is it asking you to set the passwords?  If so, I'd look at your bootloader's config file to see if it includes the string "secure".

I would say it is asking me to set passwords.  It asks for a root password, then confirm, then it ask for a dsl password, then confirm.  What file to do I need to look at and what strings do I need to add?

Depends on what bootloader was installed.

If it's Grub, the file is /cdrom/boot/grub/menu.lst.  This needs to be edited as root.  The line is the one starting with "kernel".  If this line includes the word "secure" just remove that word and save the file.

If it's Lilo, I'm not sure what the file is...probably also in /cdrom/boot, but i have never used Lilo in DSL.  The filename is lilo.conf....hope that helps a little.

Problem solved.  Thanks.  I should have known what that file was becasue I edited it once to setup my bootup options, etc.  For my scenario it was /mnt/hda1/boot/grub/menu.lst .  The location of this file would obvioulsy vary from setup to setup.  I simply removed the "secure" as you indicated.

In any regards its working.  Thanks.
