In a moment of weakness I decided to try slax on an unused partition on my HD.  However, slax uses lilo and I was using grub.  Reinstalled dsl using lilo, found the lilo.conf in slax.  Copied the booting information  from the slax lilo.conf to the dsl lilo.conf.

Tried to run lilo to update the boot block but no go.  Tried to read and understand the man pages for lilo, tried: lilo -C /cdrom/boot/lilo.conf  to tell which config file to use, still no go.

OK Forum, what am I missing?

Hi,
use DSL-LiveCD, at the prompt, type 'dsl init 2' (wihout marks), at the end of the load of the CD type 'cfdisk' (without marks), repartition/reformate your HD, then run the DSL-LiveCD and re-install DSL with lilo or grub on your hd. Your probably have a conflict between your old installation of slax and the new DSL one.
Subjective tought: I like the frugal installation better and find grub much more better than lilo.
yours
