Hi,you have to detail your config. and give us a bit more infos about how you did your install and what you did exactly. Please, remember that DSL 3.0 is in its second test stage, and it is not recommanded to install it hd at the moment. Try instead a frugal install. yours z Posted by steve roffey on Nov. 13 2006,03:16
Greetings.I too am missing my floppy drive and my first cdrom on the hard drive installation. My computer has 1 floppy 3 cdroms 1 hard drive devided into 2 partitions for windows and a swapfile for linux and the partition for DSL. When i boot from cd i have the following choices in the mount tool FD0 CDROM CDROM1 CDROM2 HDA1 HDA5 HDA7. I can mount any of these without a problem. I reboot the computer and boot off of the hard drive DSL and the mount tool has the following choices.. CDROM1 CDROM2 HDA1 HDA5 HDA1 HDA5 HDA7 I don't understand why hda1 and hda5 show up 2 times instead of FD0 and CDROM. I formatted the hda7 to make sure it was clear, deleted all configuration backup files and reinstalled from cd. THe same options appear, no fd0 or cdrom. When DSL is booting from hard drive the line shows up in pink AUTOMOUNTING FLOPPY CDROM CDROM1 CDROM2, so i expect that it knows they are there. Are there any suggestions? Steve By the way, the drives do work when I do a frugal install, instead of a regular HD install. Posted by roberts on Nov. 13 2006,20:18
I see the problem. It is similiar with the post from another user about inconsistentcy of devices within the hard drive install program and its interaction with the mount.lua stuff. I will clean up this area. Thanks for reporting. Posted by randomtrouble on Dec. 07 2006,07:11
I noticed a message 'cdrom: not opened' or something in DMESG, and while I was able to actually browse /cdrom it did not read any content when I inserted a random cd.That said, I haven't configured anything yet, I just tried to run one. Should I do anything myself to make it work? Posted by ^thehatsrule^ on Dec. 07 2006,13:52
/cdrom is used for frugals, unless used in a livecd session, does not mount your physical cd device. In general, check /dev/scdX for the device and check in /mnt/ |
