IDE Compact FlashForum: HD Install Topic: IDE Compact Flash started by: SirRawlins Posted by SirRawlins on June 21 2006,12:16
Hello Guys,I'm sure plenty of people have asked similar questions to this, but i've had a browse and search around and not found anything. I'm trying to place a copy of DSL onto a IDE CompactFlash card, 128Mb. So i've downloaded the iso's and got them running fine, the LiveCD version boots fine on my desktop pc, and i'm now looking to do a harddrive install onto the IDE CF card and run it from there. Problem being is that at the start of the HDD installation it required me to create a 200Mb partitian, and i'm only running 128Mb card. I could just start purchasing 256 cards, but that would leave me with alot of dead space, as i'm only going to be running very minimal applications on the box. Any suggestions on other methods? or just general tips for things to look out for on a CF install? Thanks, Rob Posted by Onyarian on June 21 2006,12:37
Better if you do a frugal installation in the CF.A harddrive installation needs a minimun 200Mb and reads/writes in the CF all the time (that's not good). Hope it help. Posted by SirRawlins on June 22 2006,08:55
Thanks for that pal,After a little re-search i stumbled accross the frugal install feature and i'm now working on that. I'm having issues formatting the disk though, but i'll start a new thread to discuss that. Thanks, Rob |
