Hi bilbo_b,I am new at this so my advice might not be the best. I have a HD install too and I went from version 2.2 to 2.3. I used my CD burner to copy the contents of my home directory and all of .dsl files that I had used. I formated my HD again because I didn't need so much swap then I installed the new CD. After I got 2.3 installed, I didn't copy everything back: only my bookmark files, some icons, and a few directories after I installed the .dsl files. If you have used apt-get to install programs you might have to do that again but your settings should have been in the home directory. I am thinking there might be a better way to do this using the backup button and making the tar.gz file. I don't think the backup/restore is for a HD install but DSL is pretty easy to install again. |
