Auto login?Forum: HD Install Topic: Auto login? started by: vol_freak Posted by vol_freak on June 26 2006,05:50
I just installed DSL to my hard drive but I need it to be able to automatically login. In case of a power outage it would need to be back up and running. The options I have loaded in /opt/bootloder.sh don't seem to be executed until I log in and that is my issue since sshd is one of those options. I won't be able to login after a reboot unless I am sitting at the terminal. Any suggestions? Thanks Posted by mikshaw on June 26 2006,13:56
/opt/bootlocal.sh (i assume that's what you meant?) should run even if you do not login...it's part of the standard boot sequence. If it's not running then there is something wrong with your installation.sshd will apparently not run unless you have root password set...i think...that might be part of the trouble. Another way to run it automatically is to add the "ssh" boot option to your bootloader's configuration. I've never used sshd in DSL, so i can't say any of this for sure. Thanks for the quick reply. The root password is set and sshd works fine once I have logged in. It was not working when I left it at the command prompt. I will try it again tonight to double check the problem. Thanks Posted by vol_freak on June 27 2006,01:15
That worked. I don't know why sshd didn't seem to be loading on boot last night, my imagination I suppose. Thanks |
