After two days and several ours of banging my head against the wall I think I finaly knocked something losse. I got DSL working using loadlin. I put the loadlin in the isolinux subfolder and the knoppix folder in root. I started dsl with this methode

I powered on the lappy with a bootable floppy into dos. Then changed directory into the c:\isolinux. After that I typed loadlin linux24 initrd=minirt24.gz DSL boots and goes into x-setup after going through the setting I setup the resolution to 800x600 and used 32bit color(I tried everyother setting and still have this problem) When DSL is all booted the screen is a sick green color and things look rather psychodelic. Did I do something wrong with loadlin? or is the distro not seeing my screen that well? Thanks in advance for any help

It kinda sounds like a driver issue.  I don't really know how to help you, though, because I've never had to install drivers on a *nix box.

Not sure if this will help but it's something you can try.

Once your machine is booted.  Right-click on the desktop and a menu should appear.  Select SETUP.......XVESA.   Another window should open with resolution/color settings.  Select one of those by clicking on it and see if that helps your display problem.

You may need to run Xsetup.Which is also under the SETUP menu.

The graphics problems is fininaly behind me. All I had to do was type loadlin linux24 initrd=minirt24.gz vga=789 With those setting I could finaly boot into the xfbvesa in the setup menu. Every other setting I used for xfbvesa would get kicked out before knoppix took hold and loaded fluxbox. The only issue now is the usb and sound.(Im not even trying the pcmcia yet till I get the bugs worked out of the other systems)
Thanks for all the info.
