I am trying to install DSL on my Toshiba 110CT laptop (P1 75mhz, 8mb of RAM) using the instructions in the < documentation >. Everything seemed to work fine until I booted DSL off the boot floppy and got the following error message:Accessing DSL image at /dev/hda2.../modules/cloop.o: can't allocate kernel memory for module; needed 8740 bytes Can't find KNOPPIX filesystem, sorry. Dropping you to a (very limited ) shell. Press reset button to quit. I am relatively new to Linux and completely new to DSL. I searched the forums and google to no avail. Any help you could offer would be much appreciated. Posted by roberts on July 30 2006,17:32
With only 8MB of ram, you won't be able to run much even if you get it installed. The lowest ram system that I am aware of is 12MB that clivesay did. On the website, we state 16MB minimum. You could probably run a runlevel 2, text mode. But, if you want to try to continue...Do you have a swap partition? Is swapon ? |
