Installing on a newly formatted driveForum: HD Install Topic: Installing on a newly formatted drive started by: Josiah Posted by Josiah on Aug. 02 2006,00:01
Hi all, I have an old HP that was running windows 98. I had been using the live CD to boot into DSL just to play around. I decided I wanted to do a full install, and I had no need for the windows system.I used a windows 98 boot floppy as per < here > to format my the drive. The computer will boot to BIOS and then to an options menu that allows me to "Start with CD-ROM support." When I select this option, I drop into an A:\ prompt. This is as far as I go. How do I get DSL to boot from the live CD? Posted by brianw on Aug. 02 2006,01:28

Thank you for your help, but I figured it out. I did a bad job of explaining my problem. The computer would not boot to BIOS without the windows boot floppy. This didn't make sense to me.I tried it again and for no apparent reason it worked. Now I'm going to work on doing a real install. |
