Hi Everyone,
I am trying to do a HD install on my compaq persario 1700 laptop.  I am following the instructions from the wiki.
"Installing to the Hard Disk"

I created a livecd today Version 3.01 (I think)

I have a 10 gb hard disk with no other OS on it.
I created the swap on hda1 (500mb) and the rest went to the file system hda2.

The first few stages run smoothly.
When I boot from the hard disk I change the root and dsl user password and i get the message "Password changed".

Then I get this.

cloop: Initializing cloop V2.01
INIT: Entering runlevel: 5
sr0: CDROM (ioctl) reports ILLEGAL REQUEST.
box login:

Any ideas how to get past this problem.

Have you tried logging in using root or dsl user names and the password you chose?  It looks like you selected multi user during the install and the system is waiting for you to login.  Once you login you can insert a cdrom and try to mount to see what errors you get with the cdrom drive and diagnose that using things like mount, dmesg, and /proc info.

Once you log in the system should start the X server.

Thanks,

That worked.  I was expecting it to go straight into the gui screen.

I just reinstalled as a single user system as that is all I need.
