I am trying the HD install.

I get a 'Fatal Error cannot find /hda1/' (or something similar) when I try to run cfdisk from the live CD.

I already have Win98se on my first partition, which takes 50% of the HD.

Thanks.

I think the command is:

cfdisk /dev/hda

It looks at the whole hard drive and not just a partition hda1.  Maybe you could boot up with gparted CD and make some addition partitions.  I think gparted is here;

Gparted crashes on startup. My laptop is really funny about Linux. DSL is the only linux related thing that runs on it.

I'll try
cfdisk /dev/hda

I was just typing cfdisk

I thought just running cfdisk will try to use /dev/hda automatically...
Are you sure your drive is hda though?
