I can see the info, but nothing downloads. Do I need to be in su mode? And if so, how do I get into su mode for MyDSL?Thank you, Earth and All Stars Posted by mikshaw on Nov. 30 2006,20:23
You must be user dsl in order to properly install mydsl extensions. My guess is the server was down. Try again later, or choose a different mydsl mirror. Posted by anam on Dec. 06 2006,14:41
I've just had the issue here Swapping the mirrors did nothing They are live as I could get the *.dsl file from a webbrowser or wgetting by hand. Running mydslPanel.lua fronm a terminal gave an error on /opt/.mydsl_dir changing the perms to 777 (not a good idea but testing so...) allowed it to work running DSL live (ie not installed) on a 2nd machine across the desk showed hte perms on /opt/.mydsl_dir should be 664 works fine until its a HD-Install then it blows up until its changed to 777 I'm pretty sure the install was fairly standard (not multi user or anything) is there some kind of broken permission stuff in lua ? The traditional type of harddrive install is not very heavily supported or maintained, so there's a good chance of a bug here and there. What specific error do you receive? Posted by roberts on Dec. 06 2006,15:03
It is not a Lua problem but a permission issue and only when installing via a traditional hard drive install. User dsl has no write access. But then again, it is not recommended to be using mydsl extensions on a traditional hard drive install, as they, mydsl extensions, were designed for live CD and frugals. I will fix this. But I am still debating on whether to popup a big warning when attempting to use extensions on a traditional hard drive install. Simple fix: sudo chgrp staff /opt/.mydsl_dir The only safe extension to use on a traditional hard drive installation is the uci type. Posted by anam on Dec. 06 2006,15:37
