Error booting operating systemForum: HD Install Topic: Error booting operating system started by: turborage Posted by turborage on Dec. 21 2006,03:16
Hi. I am using a presario 2100 laptop with a AMD Athlon 2.1 GHz processor, 40GB Hard drive space and 194mb of RAM. In order to run the liveCD I had to type "dsl acpi=off", and upon shutting down the screen freezes with "dsl halted". I tried installing dsl to the HD by using the the "install to HD" command. Upon restarting (pressing power off, power on when it says "dsl halted") I get the "Error booting operating system" message. The one error I get while installing it is when trying to set lilo or grup, and I tried the other type of installation by making a partison and setting lilo or grup to it and could not get it to work. Thanks in advance for any responses. Posted by turborage on Dec. 21 2006,19:25
Sorry about the last post. Problem solved. I was installing it wrong, and I was thick enough to not reread the web page that boots upon start up. Heh. The only problems I have now are configuring the file at startup so it always says "acpi=off" and figuring out how to get it to consistantly shut down.
