Hello there!

I am kinda new here.
I've managed to install DSL, piece of cake, but I have downloaded Open Office too and I'm looking at the *.tar.gz, I don/t know how to use it.

What do I have to do to install it?

best regards

If downloaded with the desktop icon, simply click desktop icon or select menu item.
To load interactively use emelfm myDSL button, or the command line mydsl-load.
For automatic bootup loading, copy to the / of your boot media
For on demand boot loading, copy to the myDSL partition and use mydsl=hdXY boot option.

I've been using the uci version of open office and finding it works great.  It hardly uses any memory at all.  On my old wreck of a machine, that's a very good thing.

Look at the MyDSL icon on the desktop.  There will be a button labeled UCI.  Click it and scroll down to Open Office.  There may be two versions on there.  I've been using the one called Openoffice-2.0.uci.  Click on it and read the info.  Click download if you want to try it.

On DSL version 3.2, I've found that it works great.  I've been using Impress to make presentations for my work.  I've also used the word processor.  I haven't yet gotten the database to do what I want it to do, but that may be a function of my ancient machine not being up to the task.
