Having just installed DSL on four machines here I was wondering why, on some installs, the program icons appear on the desktop but not on others?

not really sure what you are running into here... If you give more info on the systems you are having the problem with, someone might have an idea.
Hardware, if you added any extensions to one, and not another. Any extension you may have added at all. That kinda thing

Ooops sorry forgot to mention that the computers with the problem seem to be the Pentium III with 128mb Ram.

Thanks!

Puzzled me at first that all the icons were listed in icontool but didn't actually appear on the desktop. Ran xvesa and they all appeared!

Downside is that handy little listing on the top right of the screen dissappeared... the one with memory ip number etc on it!

Make sure you shut down your old x session first.

How do we do that?
