Trying to keep the backup option uncheckForum: HD Install Topic: Trying to keep the backup option uncheck started by: pcdoctor Posted by pcdoctor on Aug. 01 2008,10:48
I tried the following because the backup on exit option still exists. In the previous version of DSL I was able to edit this info. Now, with the lastest version, I get garbage on the screen when trying to edit the EXIT file. sudo nano /home/dsl/.dfmdesk/Exit Line 36 reads: backupBtn:value(1) Just change the value to 0 Posted by roberts on Aug. 01 2008,14:09
Since you have a hard drive installation and you like the prior version, exit.lua, then boot from the prior version CD and copy over the exit.lua program.

I thought that issue was resolved a couple releases back. If you're dealing with a hard drive install (per the thread), why bother tweaking the tools intended for CD/frugal use? Just set your jwm/flux menu so your own choices are available.Edit: Slow on the trigger this morning. Or do like Robert suggested. Posted by pcdoctor on Aug. 02 2008,19:35
I'm more experienced with kubuntu/ubuntu. I booted an older disk of dsl. I assume the exit.lua file is hidden. Is there another way to remove the backup on exit option or how do I modify the jwm menu so that my own choices are available? I hope I'm not being a pest. I'm prepping a pc with DSL 4.0 that I'm going to give my 10 year old cousin. I refuse to put win95/98 on this pc that I'm giving him.

It's not hidden, just search for it:find / -name exit.lua Posted by lucky13 on Aug. 02 2008,20:13
The file is .jwmrc in your home directory (and /etc/skel if you add other users besides dsl). That file is XML and pretty easy to figure out if you just want to add entries to reboot, shutdown, etc. Posted by pcdoctor on Aug. 02 2008,20:44
I'm just going to go back to the old version. thx for your help.

Can someone tell me how uncheck the backup option on exit with a hard drive install with version 4.4.6?I'm used to the old method here: sudo nano /home/dsl/.dfmdesk/Exit Line 36 reads: backupBtn:value(1) Just change the value to 0 Posted by ^thehatsrule^ on Sep. 26 2008,01:13
