Could someone please direct me to step-by-step instructions on how to install DSL on a hard drive on my computer?I am running Knoppix from CD-ROM. The hard drive has 2 partitions, the main one is ft-or-something ( the one that came after FAT32), the other is FAT32. (A second hard drive has Win95 on it). The DSL iso file is on a flash drive connected to a USB 2.0 port. I would like to install DSL on the main partition of the hard drive which does not have an OS on it but has some residual files from an earlier Win XP OS which I will delete. The BIOS will load from either hard drive, the CD-ROM, but not the flash drive. I have looked in the online FAQ and done a search on installing on a hard drive but for some reason can't find the instructions. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I am assuming you mean NTFS file system.
How many hardrives are in your computer?
I am a bit confused. You have Windows 95 installed on a computer that has a motherboard capable of USB 2.0 interface. I'm guessing you have a USB 2.0 device plugged into a USB 1.0 or 1.1 port.
If your bios won't boot from USB then You can try using Smart Boot Mnanger < http://paulski.com/zpages.php?id=1612 > or burn a Damn Small Linux CD. I have used it to boot from cdrom when the bios would only boot from floppy drive.
