OK, so I got the newest DSL on a cd and it boots up fine and all. I would like to install it on the hdd though for a couple reasons, one being the cd rom is slow.

The problem is, I have no clue how to partition the 730mb hdd to make a linux partition. There is nothing on the hdd. I formatted it and when I try using fdisk in DOS I can only make DOS partitions. I don't think DSL is even finding my hdd when I run it because when I run it off the cd and am doing things on it, I can't save anything on there.

I am probably as newbie as they come when it comes to linux so please, any help try to make it newb friendly. Thanks.

Edit: Totally forgot something. I am doing all this on a p1 166mhz comp with 48mb ram and 730mb hdd. I don't care too much about running slow and stuff because the only thing I want it for is php coding and development. So I will need room to install apache, mysql, and php if they aren't already in.

I told you it was a total newb problem. I finally got it to work by navigating to the /dev/ folder and using 'sudo cfdisk'. Then I set up the linux partition nice and easy and got the hd install on no problem. Thanks for the help though!  :)
