I have several questians,
I installed to compact flash, then used one of John's adapters to install it in my laptop. I got everything running good except when it boots up in the frame buffer mode at 1024x768 I can't see everything that it is reporting because my laptop only displays 800x600. Now I know how to change this in a hard drive installation, but being that this is a Frugal install and boots the same image everytime how can I change this? Should I have used custom boot options when I first booted the cd to install to CF?

Another ?, Is there a battery mon such as wmapm in the repository?
I looked, but did not see anything. Maybe its called something else. I can restore the dpkg, and install Wmapm, using Apt, but of course it's not there after reboot. I'm having a hard time screwing my head around to this Frugal install thing, but with CF, this really is the only way to do it.

Another??, How does one go about setting up a "nickname" in the DSL icq, Last night I saw everyone typing away with there DSL forum nicknames, but when I tried to enter the fray, it displayed me as dsl61112, or something like that. Belive it or not, I have never used ICQ, but think it would be a great place to ask a quick ?.

I apreciate all the good advise and help that you guys dispence here in the DSL forums.

1. Frugal uses lilo just like a HDInstall.. edit lilo for your framebuffer mode..Or, frugals reinstall easily, so bootup with fb800x600 instead
of fb1024x768 before you install your frugal

2. There is a wmacpi.dsl and a wmlaptop.dsl in the
repository for monitoring batteries ..

3. to change your name in IRC, type

/nick whatevernameulike

e.g.  /nick ke4nt

Also, when you first bring up the nIRC in DSL , try using

/connect whatevernameulike

Kent,
Thanks for the info. I didn't think to look in the testing area for the dock apps, but niether one of them worked anyway as my laptop doesn't support acpi, only apm. Anybody feel like putting wmapm in the repository? What all is entailed in doing it, maybe I'll give it a try.
Oh, I just reloaded the frugal install starting with fb800x600, and that did the trick also. I will try the nIRC thing to night.
