When i try to boot DSL on my system i gte the normal loadin screen and then after about a minute it either loads windows or it says there was an error booting.

any help out there?

System:

WindowsXP Professional
1.6ghz
224mb Ram
Amd Duron

sorry if ive missed something obvious but im new to DSL

You may have to change the boot sequence in the bios so that your pc tries to boot from the CD-drive before the hard disk. Also, there may be a problem with the CD - did you check the md5sum before burning? And how did you burn the CD - if you use Ahead Nero you should use File -> Burn Image.

yeah, i used nero, i did the file image thingy, errm..whats md5um? and i changed the bios to boot on cd b4 HD

The md5sum is a check sum - it is a way to check that your download wasn't corrupted. Here is a windows software to do that: < http://www.md5summer.org/. > If the generated sum of the iso image is the same as in dsl-0.8.2.iso.md5.txt (found on the same site as the iso image), then the download is ok.

yeah its fine, also i got a version on a cd (magazine) and that does the same thing

I have no idea why it doesn't work ... just a thought: could you try the cd on another pc?

yeah, it works fine on a pentium computer, (4)
could this be an AMD problem?
