Yes to both of your questions, I am using a old Hitchi laptop with a Orinoco Gold wireless card in it, and I have another Toshba laptop with a Linksys WPC-11 v2.5 wireless card in it. One of the laptops has a touch mouse and the other on has the little button that is in the middle of the keyboard, both work flawless.

There was a message in one of the forums a while back where everyone posted what wireless cards they had working.  Might try searching for it.

I have an old IBM 560x that I use an Orinoco gold, and a new IBM T42 with an integrated b/g card that I use DSL on.

Both use the little mouse stick in the middle of the keyboard with no problem.

I didn't have to set it up, DSL just detected it and used it, however you can use the wifi setup utility in the control panel to setup your wireless card for more options, such as changing the ssid, and wether it is in managed or ad-hoc mode, ect. As far as entering your username and password everytime, if you chose to use multiple accounts when you were installing to your hard drive, then yes you will have to enter username and password everytime ( I think that is what you were asking).

My WPC11 ver 3 uses the hermes driver

If it wont load or autodetect at boot you can add the command
Code Sample
modprobe hermes
modprobe orinoco
modprobe orinoco_cs
ifconfig eth0 up

to your /etc/rc5.d/S99bootlocal file and it should force it to load

I use the Microsoft MN-520 card and it works great wirelessly.  I had to edit the etc/pcmcia/config file and bind it to orinoco.  Then I used the wireless utility to set the WEP key and ESSID.

Hi.

I have a Gateway solo and Orinoco gold card (WiFi 11 Mbits/s Gold).  During boot DSL detects the card and it briefly (one flash) does something.  The Netcardconfig also briefly flashes the cards access lights green but then reports:

"Sending DHCP broadcast from device eth0 Operation Failed."

Also when I try:

ndiswrapper -i /mnt/hda1/windows/wlluc48b.inf

I get an error message from this command that the hardware is not found.

Any help would be very appreciated :)
