Hi,

I m quietly new to DSL.

Just installed on HD.

How can I save my network and keyboard setting to have them restored next time I boot my DSL?

It was not so trivial like in Knoppix!

Thankx

Hi,

thankx for your kind reply.

The first link in your post, the one to the user guide, was obviously read before posting.

That is related with the CDROM run of DSL.

It do not work for me in HD install!!

It do not save language

It do not save network

It do just save desktop style

huhu i ve got the same problem...
is anybody out there that could help...
for example the information about the ip adress and gateway disappears on a reboot or shutdown...so every time i use dsl i have to run netcardconfig...but the strange is that there are alreadz filled in the right values i only have to press return the whole time...

greetings

For me THIS IS A BUG!!!

After I have playrf a lot with restore, both under cdrom boot and hdinstall boot, I think the procedure is broken!

Yes, it restore the file in the default directory, then it do not execute the restored version of bootlocal.sh and it do not read the restored .x* files!

This is for SURE!!!

Prolly, on here, NO ONE do ever use this restore function, becouse it is buggy like hell!!!

Someone have to report this to the developer, if he do not already read this forum.

You can add
Code Sample
ifconfig eth0 up

to /etc/rc5.d/S99bootlocal file and it will work on reboot

huhu i made this change in /etc/rc5.d/S99bootlocal
but it still doesnt work...maybe dsl 0.8.3 is really buggy

It should work, mine works perfectly...very strange
Oh another thing I realize thanks to roberts
/etc/rc5.d/S99localboot is a softlink to /opt/bootlocal.sh

ok, didn't bother to read all the replies so i don't know if these have been suggested.
in xterm go "sudo scite /opt/bootlocal.sh", at the end of the file add these 2 lines:
loadkeys uk.kmap.gx
sudo ifup -a
