Hi,i am running dsl on a Via Epia MII-600 itx board.
My aim is to set up a minimal configuraion with mplayer, firefox and some firefox-pllugins running from cf-card.
The Problem is, that the mainboard doesnt support cf-boot from the internal cf-reader (because of ricoh bus)
I am now using second cf2ide adapter to boot from.
The "Install to USB-Pendrive"-Application is now no more working because the cf2ide adapter is just mountable as hda1.
So I tryed the "Install to Harddrive-Option" and it is working without problems.
I am just missing the "dsl toram" option in the bootloader.
Is it now possible set some kind of "dsl toram"-option or can i change the bootloader into another one having this option?

I would suggest to use the frugal installation for a CF device. Using the regular hard drive install will quickly "wear out" your CF device. The frugal install will allow many boot time options to be specified during the setup and installation.

Thats what I already tried, but the problem is that the frugal install script doesn't seem to work right in my case.It copies KNOPPIX and lost+found to cf-card and thats all.
The CF-Card is then not bootable...
btw: I am using Vers. 0.8.3 booting from cd with toram option

I just verified that is working with the toram option chosen as an installtion parameter to frugal.I installed to CF-ide as hda1
Booted from 0.8.3 cdrom
boot: dsl 2
# frugal_instal.sh
Boots up fine no problem.
Do not boot from cdrom with toram to install via frugal.
Although the toram and a CF are rarely used together, why use up ram when the speed of the CF via IDE is very good. Using the "toram" option may cause confusion using certain types of extensions.
Since frugal is "emulating the cdrom behavior" when using "toram" the "cdrom" is then "umounted" sotherefore any additional extensions not fully loaded into ram, such as uci or /optional will not be mounted/shown on the menu. You can access them by remounting the "cdrom" in this particular case you would mount hda1. Then you should see these types of extensions. Since, in your case the "cdrom" is not really unmounted, you could add the appropriate commands into /opt/bootlocal.sh to mount hda1 and mydsl-load the desired extensions.
If you do not use the toram option then you will not experience these "issues"

Thanks for the fast reply. I tried this once, but I don't really understand, what the frugal thing does exactly... But now I encountered another problem concerning MPlayer. It doesn't play back. I already tried it from within a root shell, which puts out the error message: Illegal instruction ! Could it be a problem with the compiled version of MPlayer or maybe with the castlerock video chip/card ? Can anyone give me a hint ??
