DSL 0.9.1 runs best with backup/restore to hda10 (native 83), just desktop-styles unstored.if I try a sudo dsl-hdinstall with hda10 (1GB), got error "...sorry ...not detected linux-partition..." hd-script detects on file-type "83". what type is necessary for DSL ..what's wrong now Posted by dukkieduk on Jan. 08 2005,00:12
First thing to do, is download gnu-utils.dsl and load that extension.then rightclick your desktop, tools, harddisk install as normal dsl user ! Then it should work. I supose that an fdisk will also resold in a failure ... load gnu-utils.dsl and this will also work. just try it out. Happy installing, it runs great from harddisk! dukkieduk Posted by a2d2 on Jan. 08 2005,11:35
..thats it !!!brilliant idea. saves long time searching. downloading using my-dsl button. tricky. hd-install running succesfull. placing a hint in hd-install FAQ might be helpfull for others. now I try embedding in my personal kanotix-grub-menu. thx sooo much Posted by bigj on Jan. 09 2005,13:02
HiI am a new mwmber, joined today. All the documentation and comments on dsl-hdinstall forget to mentioin that you need to be su to run ds-hdinstall. All you need to do is : #cfdisk #create linux partition on /dev/hdc #su #dsl-hdinstall #follow the prompts, they are logical #mkliloboot Took me 10 minutes for whole installation aftre 2hours of searching once I realised where the problems were. Now I cam get my teeth into this baby. bigj Posted by botaK on Jan. 24 2005,16:05
