Hi all,

I've got an old notebook computer that has made installing DSL a bit of a challenge.  I'm also a linux newbie making it even more challenging.  What I'm working on is booting DSL on my dos partitioned hd with loadlin.exe:

I created a directory structure like on the hard drive:

c:\KNOPPIX\  --this is where knoppix. resides
c:\BOOT\ISOLINUX\  -- copy all the contents of the same directory on the cd

(this is identical to the directory structure on the CD).

then I added "loadlin.exe" (found elsewhere on the 'net) and a batch file I've created - kboot.bat

Here's my batch file so far:

Code Sample

loadlin linux24 fromhd=hda init=/etc/init initrd=minirt24.gz
BOOT_IMAGE=Knoppix

This works with the following limitations (problems):

1.  My sound card is not recognized.
2.  I'm prompted to select my mouse and graphics settings even though they've been detected.
3.  My hard drive is mounted as the "CD-ROM" and I'm unable to mount my CD-ROM.

If anyone out there is able to help on these, it would be most appreciated.

When it's working, this will be a very easy Linux HD install on an old dos box that won't boot from CD.

Your help is appreciated!

Paul
