hd install went alright after 10 tries of partitioning and installing windows 98se and dsl on 1st hdd i have second hdd hdc1 mkliloboot made a mess of the boot screen. now i have 6 boot types as per liloboot once i saw mkliloboot ask which root i want to make lilo can i make lilo in dos boot also first time it stoned my win98 boot now i have 6 boot buttons on lilo screen only hda1 linux and hda3 windows work although it shows there is a nt boot on hdc1 it is not booting from there. what file i can edit to show only hda1 linux and hda3 windows is there a way make it work the hdc1 nt boot. liloboot is not accessing hdc1 really any help on this? any body has 3 boot system working? thanks ramaswamyps Posted by SaidinUnleashed on Jan. 21 2005,20:02
Use GRUB. Lilo sucks trying to do multi-boot.If you need a grub floppy or CD to get your box booting, you can get some custom Grub disks from < my ftp >. Otherwise, just apt-get install grub, then google for "grub menu.lst" and make a text file at /boot/grub/ called menu.lst for your particular setup. It's easy. -J.P. how do i remove the liloboot from installation-- short of reinstallthe above adv is greek and latin to me i am still in the stage of teaspooon feeding in linux i have to do a lot of reasearch in linux commands where all these files are written i see that i cannot copy save any file in hda2 manually or on hda1 anyway i want to reamove the lilo boot is there any command for format hda1 hda 2 .i want to delete all in the drives and reinstall.... for simply reinstalling just overwrites the pld one thanks SaidinUnleashed i will try the grub ramaswamyps |
