Linux24 Not LoadingForum: HD Install Topic: Linux24 Not Loading started by: Thanatos Posted by Thanatos on Mar. 18 2005,20:10
I had to re-install DSLinux. I went in 'cfdisk', deleted the partition, redid the partition, set type of partition, did write to HD & quit. Then I rebooted & did, "mkfs -t ext2 /dev/hda10". Rebooted again & did 'dsl-hdinstall'. I chose hda10, enhance, internet connection, 'no' on more than one user & waited. I said yes to 'mkliloboot', then yes to reboot. It still contained the 'lilo.conf' setting with all my other linuxs on it. I choose to boot 'dsl' & the computer shuts off. When I check what was installed, I show a syslink to 'linux24' in main folder. Problem is there is no linux in my boot folder. Where can I download 'linux24 so I can stick it in the boot folder. Also, why isn't it loading the linux in the first place?? Thank you for your time & any help.

I copied vmlinuz to the boot folder & adjusted lilo.conf to let it work. Problem now is, it is not loading my 'D-link' ethernet card on 'eth0', so I have no internet connection. I have internet connection installing, why do I not have it when it installls? If anyone can figure what I'm doing wrong?? Let me know. I use DamnSmall to control all the others. Easier to work in on the internet. I'm trying to do anything less than a total linux install of all systems. I did just update my DSL disk to the newest one, about two weeks ago. It's quite a bit different from the old one I was using & no I don't have the old disk. I use CD-RW to burn my ISOs. That way if I screw up, it don't cost a fortune. Thanks for any help. I just want to get my internet working, so I can do the synaptic thing & get a good kernel loaded. Thanks again for any help.
