Help on remaster from Hard driveForum: HD Install Topic: Help on remaster from Hard drive started by: jdebay Posted by jdebay on Mar. 27 2005,19:25
I have done searchs, I have read howto's but still need help inremoving applications. I have remove some applications that apt-get remove does not show is installed. I have been able to remove icon's from desktop and menu picks. But applications that were installed not by apt-get, it is very slow to remove the application. Need how to do it?? Or a map of what can be removed. I am trying to get a base system with very few applications installed. Save that. Then add apps. If the makers of DSL have a base iso that would help or what I can remove from /usr sub-directories I have so far not removed any libraries. But it is very time consuming remove one application at a time. Also installed aptitude per Knoppix site to remove apt-get apps. Thanks in advance for any help... I feel your pain, bro...The short answer is that there is no easy way to remove any existing apps from an "off the shelf" version of DSL. Without the dpkg database - which doesn't come with DSL - there's no way of knowing app interdependencies, or what else might break after you delete something. You'd probably be better off starting with a different Linux distro which is more "bare bones" than DSL. FYI, this thread discusses a base install of Debian over a network starting with only three floppies: < Debian Floppy Install > |
