Partitioning TroublesForum: HD Install Topic: Partitioning Troubles started by: Dj Brimstone Posted by Dj Brimstone on April 05 2005,00:19
Well, my laptop (Omnibook 5700CTX) is apparently too slow to run in LiveCd mode (this is what I am told), so I figured I would have to a HD install...well, I need to make three partitions, correct? This is what I have picked up, anyway...Well, I can't even make ONE partition...I want it to be Non-destructive, so I tried Fips...wouldn't work, said all 4 partitions were used..but there is 1.5 gigs of free space left...Some one suggested running PartEd, but I couldn't get it to work...Partition Magic isn't the answer, I don't believe, either...what are my options? I need something small, free, and nondestructive...

parted is all of the above except for NTFS partitionsntfsresize is for NTFS partitions. If you don't mind the slow performance while resizing, I recommend getting a knoppix livecd and then booting with knoppix desktop=fluxbox and then running qtparted. It is pretty easy to use. |
