Hi all, I'm trying to install DSL (Newer version) to my Compaq Presario CDTV 520 using a boot disk and a CD, but the loading process stops telling that "No coprocessor found and no math emulation present" "Giving up" What can I do? How can I install DSL on my Computer? COMPAQ PRESARIO CDTV 520 ---------------------------- 486SX2 - 66 Mhz 24 Mb Ram HD 6.4 Gb Intel EtherExpressPro 10+ (ISA) I'm Really new tod DSL and to Linux... Hi,I downloaded DSL Ver. 0.5.3.1 and checked the md5sum, and was OK. But I made the boot disk and it keeps looping at the start of the process. I canīt see nothing on the screen all a see is the RAM check again and again. First the PC checks for Ram Then it begins the boot process (Reads the DSL boot disk) The the screen goes blank and restarts whit the Ram check again... I used Rawrite2.exe to make the floppy and then used another utilitie for win (winraw or something) and nothing. Any idea? Posted by perry on April 19 2005,23:26
well it booted after all, maybe the floppy was bad or somethig but it booted OK after I used a brand new disk.Thanks!! But Now when trying to use cfdisk it gives me a "FATAL ERROR: Cannot Read disk drive" "press any key to continue" any ideas? Posted by chickenman on April 20 2005,02:27
Try running cfdisk on root and to the non-mounted drive (eg /dev/hda1), if you wern't allready...Or you could try to use sfdisk, depending on what your doing. Posted by cbagger01 on April 20 2005,16:17

is there something that I can do to the Compaq Diagnostic Partition on my HD? There are two actually,one of 7Mb and anotherone with 22Mb, Should I erase them or should leave them there?Bacause the Error keeps coming every time I use cfdisk, and whit sfdisk it gives me an error that it cannot access bloc 0 Every thing is after I type: "sudo su" (that puts me in root mode, right?) |
