I am new to Linux and have not yet been able to fine the information anywhere.

I have an old laptop with only a floppy drive, no cd-rom.  I can have the cd and can transfer the data onto my laptop.  Is there anyway to install DSL without having to boot from the CD?

-Thanks

Yeah snizzle,
copy the image file called Knoppix (in the knoppix-folder) onto your hard drive, and then make a bootdisk (get it here: < http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub....8.0.img > and write it to the bootdisk with rawwritewin, which you can getr here < http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/rawwrite.htm) >

Regards
Jens

I made the disk and put the file on the drive.
it boots up to the point where it makes the large ASCII DSL and then says it can't find the Knoppix file.

Is there a boot option to tell it where it is?

-Thanks

Make sure that the

C:\knoppix\knoppix

file and directory names are all lowercase letters.
