loadlin install hangsForum: HD Install Topic: loadlin install hangs started by: mdkdc Posted by mdkdc on May 13 2005,18:31
I'm trying to run DSL on an old Progear 1050 SE tablet, but I'm running into problems. I followed the instructions < here >, but after running "loadlin @options.txt" I got "Uncompressing Linux... Ok. Booting the kernel." and then a blinking cursor and no DSL. So I removed "quiet" from options.txt to see what messages were being displayed. It was stopping after a ACPI or something message so I go to the BIOS settings, disable all ACPI options, reboot and run try loading DSL from loadlin. It gets further now, but I'm stuck because it stops after displaying "VFS: Disk quotas vdquot_6.5.1". I've been searching for a solution, but I haven't come across one. Can anyone help me?

Try adding:noapic noapm acpi=off to the append line for your loadin configuration. Posted by mdkdc on May 13 2005,22:55
That didn't seem to get me past the "VFS: Disk quotas vdquot_6.5.1".

I don't know what the specific problem is, but since DSL is based on KNOPPIX which is based on Debian, maybe this site will be of some help:< http://www.progear.org/ > |
