Using CD DSL with FD BootForum: HD Install Topic: Using CD DSL with FD Boot started by: darkhooda Posted by darkhooda on June 22 2005,22:02
My other computer is really old and doesn't seem to support CD booting. Apparently, the BIOS is locked and the CD drive is currently not in the boot order. However, is there any way that I can use a floppy to boot up from the CD?

Sure..Download the bootfloppy.img from the repository. < http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub....ppy.img > Write the image onto a fresh known good floppy disk. ( dd if=/path/to/bootfloppy.img of=/dev/fd0 ) Use your new floppy disk, in combination with the CD, to boot up DSL on your system.. Search the forums using the search button if you need more info, as there is a lot of data about floppy booting there. 73 ke4nt Posted by chlump on July 25 2005,17:11
