I have an old laptop (431 MHz AMD processor, 188 MB of RAM) and I want to install DSL on it, and then install < Skype. > Given the small amount of RAM (188 MB), can I install Damn Small Linux, and then install Skype? Anyone currently using Skype on DSL?

Skype's requirements for Linux are:
400 MHz processor (check. I meet that qualification.)
128 MB RAM (check.  Meet that qualification too.)
10 MB of Free disk space on hardrive (Yep.  I meet that one, too.)

Looks like I should be okay.  Has anyone experienced any problems running Skype on DSL?

How about Skype with a 300 Mhz processor (4 gigs had 296 RAM?)

doesn't work.

it's rather choppy (except at the lowest quality) on a 400mhz proc.

Might work if you have a DMA enabled soundcard.

Otherwise, outlook not good.
