How can I fix the Issue that after rebootet a Hard Drive Installed DSL the UCI directories are empty... when I load them tmanually with mydsl-load the program works, but now I have duplicate menu entries...

I understand that DSL is not best suited for HD Installs, but it works really good, and compared to Debian it is much easier to set up, since lot of things are ready to use. But just for some issues I want to use the newest version of firefox and also want to use open office, but sometimes this machine is also turned off...

UCI and these issues are much improved in DSL 1.3 even for hard drive installs.

:(

first: what means uci... what makes them different then other extensions, found the answer nowhere on the page... and second: i don't want to reinstall everything again, and set everything up again from the beginning, even because this is a multiuser office computer... and i'm really shocked since firefox gtk 1.0.4 package is not working... there was no warning or something, that uci packages wont be there anymore after a reboot, and since the packages are still on the hd, there must be a workaround to fix this....

UCI extensions are mounted User embedded Compressed Images. Not installed. A reboot no matter what will "unmount" them. What is different in 1.3 is a shutdown will also cleanup the leftover menu and icon files.

With the fast pace of developement of DSL, and the many warnings and suggestions that MyDSL is not recommended for hard dirve installed multi-user systems, I can offer no other soultion than to go to 1.3 when released.

firefox-gtk2-1.0.4.uci requires the gtk2.dsl package to be loaded and installed first.

Read the firefox-gtk2-1.0.4.uci.info file for more details.

you missed the point... sure, i have read this, and firefox loads well...  but after reboot i have to install it again...

@others:

what would be your sugesstion for a good small multi user linux system, with the cool fluxbox wm? i think there is nothing like that... and i think i am not experienced enought to install a debian from scratch...

If you really want to install them again, why not do them automatically?

Edit your /opt/bootlocal.sh file and add something like:

sudo -u dsl mydsl-load name_of_uci_extension.uci

and it will automatically be reloaded upon startup.
