HD install /etc/fstabForum: HD Install Topic: HD install /etc/fstab started by: chris_andrew Posted by chris_andrew on July 27 2005,12:28
Hi, all.I've just done an extended HDD install onto an old laptop disk. I did this by placing the laptop disk in a PC, using an adaptor. The HDD was partitioned /dev/hda1 = / and /dev/hda2 = swap. When I boot, it looks like my fstab is created dynamically, everytime, and does not enable swap. Anybody know how I can change this? Thanks, Chris Present /etc/fstab: /dev/hda1 / ext2 defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 1 proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 /dev/fd0 /floppy vfat defaults,user,noauto,showexec,umask=022 0 0 /dev/cdrom /cdrom iso9660 defaults,ro,user,noexec,noauto 0 0 # partitions found by dsl #/dev/hda1 /mnt/hda1 ext2 noauto,users,exec 0 0 #/dev/hda2 /mnt/hda2 auto noauto,users,exec 0 0 # Added by KNOPPIX /dev/hda2 /mnt/hda2 auto noauto,users,exec 0 0 Posted by chlump on July 27 2005,12:46

Chlumop,Trying to sort my X config in another post. Hopefully then, i'll be able to use myDSL. With regard to the adaptor, I used the following: < http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws....86&rd=1 > Thanks, Chris. Posted by mikshaw on July 27 2005,15:22
I've suggested to a couple of people to try the 'dsl nofstab' boot option, but so far have seen no response on whether or not this works. I'm also not sure if you can use boot options in a harddrive install. If not, you might be able to remove the script that rebuilds fstab (not the whole file, just the part that sets up fstab)...i think it's in /etc/init.d/knoppix-config, but not positive.
