dpkg-preconfigure not found

since the beginning i obtain a lot of errors like this:
/bin/sh: line 1: /usr/sbin/dpkg-preconfigure: No such file or directory
dpkg: parse error, in file `/var/lib/dpkg/status' near line 27998 package `ecasound':
`n/t-installed' is not allowed for third (status) word in `status' field
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)

i tried apt-get install dpkg successfully, and it always says this, could someone help me with this?
i cant install nothing with this :S

Have you re-downloaded the dsl-dpkg.dsl file recently?

It has been thru many changes in the past few months..

Try it and re-install...

my problem is now fixed, i downloaded dpkg-preconfigure and modified status and now it works fine!
