Is there a way to save all the device configurations that autoconfigure detects on the first bootup so that each succesive boot aftwards boots fast (under 30 seconds)?

Since the device information is saved, then autoconfigure can then be turned off, right?

Can this be done with DSL and if so how?

Thanks.

I am also insterested in this. I just downloaded DSL and got it running on a HP vectra 486/66DX 16mb ram. Its slow but it works.

I think (disclaimer: I'm no expert) that this would be more in the court of Knoppix, as I believe that's what does the initial booting. It would definitely be quite cool if the hw detection could remember the settings on a hd install. That would drop the boot time significantly!

Since DSL is KNOPPIX based perhaps they would have a script that would do this....

Who knows
