1. Boot with the toram option2. download the latest dsl 3. Become the root user ( sudo su ) 4. Make an iso directory ( mkdir /mnt/iso ) 5. mount the iso ( mount -t iso9660 -o loop dsl-1.2.iso /mnt/iso) 6. copy over the new KNOPPIX file from /mnt/iso/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX, to wherever your frugal is installed ( e.g. /mnt/hda2/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX ) 7. Shutdown/Reboot 8. Enjoy your new, upgraded DSL distro. Posted by jjcd7 on Aug. 14 2005,18:22

Hello,is it possible to upgrade without a new full hd-install? Are there complications afterwards? Posted by adssse on Aug. 15 2005,04:27
A frugal install is the easiest to upgrade. You can easily upgrade it by running /usr/sbin/frugal_instal.sh and selecting the upgrade option. You can do this in a number of ways: with the iso burned to a cd, just having the iso file on a drive or by doing it over the net.

Frugal install isn't hd-install, is it.It's something with media storage, usb or something like that, right? Posted by adssse on Aug. 15 2005,14:05
A frugal install can be done to a hard drive or compact flash and is very easy to upgrade. Clivesay has put up a great step by step tutorial, which also gives a short definition of what frugal is.< http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub....wto.pdf > Posted by I went to bed very late on Aug. 15 2005,16:26
